Department of Biotechnology was started in the year 2003. The Department aims to produce the highly trained Technocrats with multidisciplinary background to explore the nascent field of Biotechnology for the benefit of mankind and development of Biotechnology with social, ethical and moral values for the advancement of our society.

In a short span of three years, the department has made a mark in the development of its infrastructure and appointment of qualified faculty with multidisciplinary educational background and good teaching, research and industrial experience. The dedicated efforts of our staff with accountability in teaching learning process and transparency in evaluation methods fetched high pass percentage among Biotechnology students.

To meet its stated goals and to provide the insights on the latest developments in the field to the Biotechnology students of Engineering colleges, the department has conducted two National level seminars and one workshop. The Department actively particiate in thhe 'Reach the Unreach' programme of the college to take the Biotechnology to the doorsteps of common man. In this direction, the department conducted anemia prevention camp, HIV awareness camps, Blood Donation camp etc in the rural areas of Krishna Dist.

With the dedicated and committed efforts of our faculty and the zeal of students to learn, experiment and innovate, in the coming years, the department would scale new heights in the field of Biotechnology.
